I’m going camping, what should I buy? I often hear this question from people that are interested in pursuing outdoor activities. So I put together a list of my favorite equipment and clothes that I use when out in the wild.
I’m not one of those fanatics that has to buy the newest outdoors gadget. Most of the stuff I have I’ve had for years. I tend to buy very little, and use it for a very long time. I look for quality, ruggedness, usefulness, and practicality. I don’t need a man made item that nature already has a viable solution for (more on that under Survival Tips). That said, maybe it’s because I’m getting older but I have softened a bit. Like actually owning a coat instead of just layering shirts, and sleeping in a sleeping bag by the fire instead of old army blankets.
If I have it listed on this site, you can be rest assured I’ve put it through the ringer. I’ll pay an extra couple bucks and proudly buy American when I can. Not just out of patriotism, but Americans build excellent quality. I like to buy from great companies that stand behind their product.
Look for the and symbols.
First look local, then Michigan Made, and then American Made. Maybe it’s not cheaper at first, but it probably will be in the long run
We designed the Made in Michigan logo for Michigan producers to proudly display their origin. Michiganders take pride in what we produce. Our state is filled with incredible minds and talented workers.
The flag signifies USA, two stars represent two peninsulas/one state and the five stripes for the five Great Lakes.
